Amine Harit

Schalke & Morocco, Central Midfield, Attacking Midfield, Winger, Second Striker

Schalke have undergone a revival with new head coach Domenico Tedesco. His willingness to thrust young talent into the spotlight has been a prominent feature of his first season in Gelsenkirchen and mercurial attacking midfielder Amine Harit has been a beneficiary of Tedesco’s approach.

Having arrived from Nantes in the summer of 2017 Harit wasted no time in acquitting himself in the Bundesliga, registering 3 assists in his first 3 games. Often deployed as one of the 2 behind the striker in Schalke’s 3-4-2-1 but equally comfortable in central midfield or on either wing, Harit’s silky dribbling in central areas has caught the eye in Germany and his 53 dribbles rank him 8th overall in the Bundesliga. His balance, quick feet and close control allow him to skip past challenges effortlessly in midfield and he is also able to carry the ball over long distances when there is space ahead of him thanks to his relatively long strides. His dribbling ability is supplemented well by his vision and eye for through balls. He is able to beat opponents in midfield before playing dangerous passes to his teammates in attacking positions. The combination of Harit’s dribbling, playmaking and versatility make him a multi-faceted attacking threat, equally capable of opening up a defence with a mazy run or a laser guided pass.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Harit has a chance to announce himself on the world stage. Lead by captain Medhi Benatia and fellow gifted attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech, Harit will be part of a Morocco side that not many expect to advance from their group with Portugal, Spain and Iran. Could Harit provide the spark they need to defy expectations?
